FOREWORD
The Hollandclub recess has ended and I want to recap the goings on in the interim. We lost a dear member of our Hollandclub
community on April 1 with the passing of Jopie Machiels (89). Jopie was known for her great dedication to her friends. Preceded in
death by her daughter Marijke, the long-term president of the Hollandclub. Those who knew Jopie will fondly remember her.”
On April
25, we celebrated Queen’s Birthday at the home of the Schreuder family. We enjoyed good weather, plenty of food and a good showing
of guests and families.
The presence of our newly appointed Honorary Consul Mr. Patrick Willemsen was very much appreciated and provided
a great opportunity to get acquainted. Thanks Peter and Kim for being a perfect host to this great outdoor party.
On June 6 we
had a “Coffee Klatch” which I want to declare is unique to our Hollandclub and not to be confused with the “Tea Parties” we hear so
much about! With happy banter, plenty of pastry, soft drinks, coffee and yes…also tea…. we had a great time.
On July 11th our club
members and guests gathered in a cheerfully decorated room in the OLD NORTHEAST TAVERN,
Our Hollandclub is now looking forward to the upcoming events as shown in the year 2010 Calendar of Events.
Due to the high cost of publishing the Tulip Talk we try to limit the monthly mailing as much as practical.
For that reason it is especially important for the “email-challenged” members to mark your calendar and hold on to your booklet.
Members
with an email address will receive reminders one week in advance of each event. Please ascertain that your address is on record. You can verify this with me on [apsteijl@tampabay.rr.com]. Also check our website [www.hollandclubtampabay.com] for additional information.
We hope to meet you soon at the upcoming events.
